TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona Wildcats dropped a 79-58 loss to Iowa State Saturday afternoon in McKale Center.
The Cats were led by guard Jada Williams, who put up 17 points on 6-for-14 shooting in the paint. Lauryn Swann also had a powerful offensive performance for Arizona, contributing 9 points, including a half-court buzzer beater at the end of the first half that narrowed the Cyclones' lead to single digits.
The Cats ran into some foul trouble against the Cyclones, with Breya Cunningham fouling out late in the second half. Isis Beh also tallied four fouls.
Defensively, Arizona put up a strong front against the Cyclones, with 20 defensive rebounds, 10 steals and 3 blocks. Arizona was able to convert on Iowa State mistakes; the Cats earned 12 points from the Cyclones' 15 turnovers. Cunningham led the team on defense, with eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
