TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Gymnastics'
Elena Deets was named the Big 12 Specialist of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday. Deets is Arizona's first gymnast to win a Big 12 weekly award.

Deets earned Specialist of the Week honors after helping Arizona place second at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad with a 195.825, picking up wins over Clemson and then-No. 8 NC State. The fifth year senior from Maple Grove, Minnesota placed first on beam after scoring a 9.90 as the team's anchor and pushed Arizona to a second-place finish in the quad meet.

Additionally, Deets helped Arizona earn meet-high team scores on bars and beam. Her season-high-tying 9.90 on beam pushed the GymCats to earn a 49.225 and she earned a season high 9.850 on bars to help Arizona score a 49.075 on the event.

Deets and the GymCats will host their home opener against Air Force on Friday, January 17 in McKale Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. MST and will be streamed on ESPN+.
