TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Arizona Men's Tennis, now 3-0, added another match to the win column with a 7-0 defeat over Georgia State Friday morning.
The Cats traveled to Tallahassee for a weekend on the road with matches against Georgia State and Florida State. Friday's match was another sweep for Arizona, as they did not drop a match.
In doubles play, the junior duo
Jay Friend and
Eric Padgham put up 6-3 against Baran Soyler and Gabriele Datei. Securing the doubles point for Arizona was freshman
Filip Gustafsson and senior Inaki Cabrera-Bello with a 6-0 win over Edward Tymes and McKane Johnson.
Playing at court one in singles was No. 6 Friend, who came out on top 6-2, 6-3 over Soyler. One court over was
Colton Smith, who defeated Tymes 6-2, 6-0 in straight sets. Freshman
Zoran Ludoski, coming off his first dual match Tuesday, took down Aryan Jit Singh 7-5, 6-1.
Filip Gustafsson and
Alexander Rozin each won their matches in swift fashion, with scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1, respectively.
Glib Sekachov, also representing Arizona's freshman class, closed out the match for the Cats with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Hugo Nossler. Each of the six singles matches were won in two sets.
Arizona is set to face off against No. 9 Florida tomorrow, January 18 at 11:00 a.m. MST. The match marks Arizona's first ranked dual-match of the 2025 season.
