TUCSON, ARIZ.— Zara Ayazi earned the Big 12's Women's Diver of the Week award following her standout performance against NAU Jan. 3. This is Ayazi's first time receiving conference honors.
When the Cats faced NAU, Ayazi earned her first collegiate victory on the 1m against NAU, winning by over 20 points and earning a Diving Zones Cut on the 1m (286.73).
Just a few weeks earlier, Ayazi earned an NCAA Diving Zones Cut with her second place finish in the Women's Platform event (233.03) against BYU.
Last season, Ayazi secured a Zone E Diving Championships qualifier in the 1-meter and placed 13th at the Pac-12 Championships in the 1m (258.20).
With this award for Ayazi, Arizona's diving squad continues to collect Big 12 accolades. Junior Gage DuBois has been named Diver of the Week three times this season, and senior Brooke Earley has also taken home the honor once.
