Arizona Takes Down Utah in Five-Set Thriller

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Wildcats took down the Utah Utes in five sets (23-25, 25-12, 17-25, 26-24, 15-13) on Thursday night in McKale Center. Arizona improved to 8-5 (2-1 Big 12) with the victory.

Arizona had three players with double-digit kills while two players notched double-doubles. Jordan Wilson led the offense with 17 kills, Carlie Cisneros followed with 11 kills, and Adrianna Bridges had 10 kills. Avery Scoggins recorded 41 assists and 19 digs.  
 
Utah won the opening set, 25-23. Arizona held the lead until the Utes stormed back from a six-point deficit to take the lead. The Wildcats served two aces and had three blocks but the Utes had four blocks and hit .265 in the set. Wilson led the Cats with seven kills and Bridges had two blocks.  
 
The Wildcats evened the match with a 25-12 win in the second set. Arizona used an early 9-0 run to create separation and held the lead the rest of the set. Cisneros tallied five kills and Britt Carlson followed with three kills to help the Cats win the set.
 
Utah won the third set, 25-17, to take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Utes used a 5-0 run to pull away from the Cats in the middle of the set. Wilson had three of Arizona's six kills in the set but it wasn't enough to overcome Utah's three blocks.
 
Arizona won the fourth set in extra points, 26-24, to force a fifth set. Bridges and Carlson had four kills each while Paige Thies followed with three kills after pushing through nine tie scores to win the set.
 
The Cats won the fifth set, 15-13. Arizona hit .529 and held Utah to a .250 hitting percentage in the set. Wilson led the attack with five kills while Bridges and Cisneros added two kills each.  

Arizona will host Colorado on Wednesday, October 8 and Baylor on Friday, October 10 in McKale Center.
