TUCSON, Ariz. — Despite a strong defensive showing and a flurry of early chances, Arizona fell, 1-0, to No. 9 TCU on Thursday night at Murphy Field at Mulcahy Stadium.
The Wildcats (7-10-0, 2-7-0 Pac-12) matched the Horned Frogs (13-2-1, 7-1-1 Big 12) in total shots (6) and corner kicks (3), but couldn't find the back of the net. Arizona's best opportunities came in the first half, including back-to-back shots from
Whitney Reinhardt and
Narissa Fults in the 14th minute, both saved by TCU goalkeeper Olivia Geller.
TCU's lone goal came in the 13th minute when Emma Yolinsky converted a pass from Cameron Patton, marking her fifth goal of the season. Arizona goalkeeper
Olivia Ramey made three saves in the loss, including a key diving stop on Yolinsky in the 82nd minute to keep the Wildcats within striking distance.
Arizona's offense was unable to mount significant threats on goal against the strong TCU defense in the second half, generating just one shot and one corner kick.
The Wildcats have two matches remaining in the regular season, traveling to Colorado on Sunday before returning home to host Arizona State on Thursday (Oct. 30).
