LAWRENCE, Kansas – Championship season has arrived for Arizona Cross Country as they head to Kansas for their second ever Big 12 Championships on Friday. The championship competition will be hosted by Kansas at Rick Rock Farm.
The event gets underway on Friday at 8:00 a.m. MST with the men's 8k, which will be followed by the women's 6k at 9:00 a.m. MST. The top 15 individual finishers in each race will be named to the All-Big 12 Team. Live results for both races can be found here. The meet will also be broadcasted on ESPN+ ($) on Friday starting at 8:00 a.m. MST and can be found here.
The last time the Wildcats were in action, the team saw top 15 finishes and wins at the Highlander Invitational in Riverside, Calif. Evans Tanui won the men's individual 8k at the competition with a time of 23:26.7 as the men's team won the overall team title with a score of 36 points. Lawi Ngetich finished second overall, Bryson Nielsen placed fourth overall, and Michael Urbanski came in sixth overall as well.
On the women's side, Arizona finished fifth overall in the team standings. They were led by Praise Chepkemboi, who finished first for the team and third overall with a time of 20:33.5. Laina Friedmann placed second for the team, followed by Amelia North in third.
