No. 2 Arizona Takes Down Norfolk State, Stays Unbeaten

Box Score

TUCSON, Ariz. — No. 2 Arizona stayed unbeaten with a dominant 98–61 win over Norfolk State on Saturday afternoon at McKale Center, powered by a balanced offense and overwhelming interior play.

Motiejus Krivas led the Wildcats with 20 points, matching his career high, and nine rebounds on 9-of-10 shooting, anchoring an Arizona frontcourt that outscored the Spartans 58–24 in the paint. Freshman Koa Peat continued his strong start, finishing with 16 points, four rebounds and four assists, while Brayden Burries added 15 points and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Anthony Dell'Orso chipped in 16 points off the bench as Arizona's reserves outscored Norfolk State's bench 38–23.

Arizona (7–0) shot 56 percent from the field and held a double-digit lead for the final 29 minutes after closing the first half on a 32–13 run. The Wildcats also converted 19 Norfolk State turnovers into 23 points and pushed the pace for 23 fast-break points.

The decisive stretch came early in the second half, when Krivas, Peat and Dell'Orso fueled a 17–4 run that extended Arizona's lead to 59–36. From there, the Wildcats continued to dominate inside, with Tobe Awaka delivering 13 points and eight rebounds in just 20 minutes.

Norfolk State (4–5) was led by Anthony McComb III, who scored 19 points, and Elijah Jamison, who finished with eight. The Spartans shot just 42 percent from the field and went 2-for-9 at the free-throw line, unable to keep pace with Arizona's scoring depth and size.

Arizona out-rebounded Norfolk State 44–27 and recorded 12 steals, with Dell'Orso, Burries and Jaden Bradley each contributing defensively.

The Wildcats led by as many as 43 points and never trailed after the opening four minutes, closing out one of their most efficient performances of the season.

Arizona continues its homestand next week on Saturday, Dec. 6th, against Auburn at 8:00 p.m. MST at the McKale Center. The game is already sold out and fans are encouraged to purchase tickets on the seconardy market via Seat Geek.
