TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona women's basketball team secured its second win of the season, defeating UC Irvine 75–61 on Sunday afternoon inside the McKale Center.
The Wildcats were led by Mickayla Perdue, who poured in 31 points, the most by a Wildcat since Shaina Pellington's 35 against Utah in 2023. Perdue knocked down five three-pointers and added two assists.
Freshman Daniah Trammell continued her strong start with 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting, while Noelani Cornfieldrecorded her first double-double as a Wildcat with 14 points and 12 assists — the most assists by an Arizona player since Aari McDonald's 14 in 2019.
Arizona's defensive effort limited UC Irvine to 37.8% shooting from the field and 23.5% from beyond the arc. The Wildcats forced 17 Anteater turnovers, converting them into 13 points, and collected seven steals, including five from Cornfield.
Nora Francois flirted with a double-double herself, posting nine rebounds and eight points, while Arizona's bench contributed 13 points. The Wildcats built their largest lead of 21 points midway through the third quarter and never looked back.
Arizona improves to 2–0 and returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 16, against Grambling State in McKale Center at 2 p.m. MST for their Native American Heritage game. The game will stream live on ESPN+.
