Arizona Diving Delivers at USA Nationals

MIDLAND, TEXAS – The dive team is heading to Midland, Texas, this week for the USA Diving Nationals. The Cats have had a short break but are ready to compete, with 4 divers attending this meet.
 
Zara Ayazi and Luke Hernandez have already qualified for their respective events. Ayazi will compete in the Women's 10m and Women's 1m. Hernandez will compete in the Men's 1m and Men's 3m.
 
Colin Agor will be competing in the qualifiers for the Men's 3m and will be competing in prelims for the Men's 1m. Bo Bridges will also be competing in the qualifiers for the Men's 1m and 3m.
 
Luke Hernandez has been named Big 12 Diver of the Week twice this season and is heading into Nationals strong. Zara Ayazi also helped the Women's team back in mid-November defeat the UCLA Bruins.
 
Qualifiers are set to begin on December 10th, and prelims begin on the 12th. Follow along on Instagram, X, and Facebook for more live results.

Thursday, December 11th
 
During the second day of qualifiers, Bo Bridges had a stand-out performance on the 1-meter (311.35). Placing third overall, Bridges secured a spot in prelims on Sunday to compete along with Agor and Hernandez.
 
Friday, December 12th
 
Zara Ayazi started the day off strong for Arizona, placing seventh in the prelims of the Women's platform and advancing on to the finals (249.20). Luke Hernandez also advanced to the finals in the Men's 3m, placing 11th (347.50). This is Ayazi's first time competing in a final at this level.
 
In the finals for both athletes' respective events, the Cats ended the day with two top-ten finishes. Ayazi placed seventh overall in the platform finals (499.95), and Hernandez placed sixth overall in the 3m finals (742.40).
 
Sunday, December 14th
 
During the last day of the Cats competing at the USA Diving Nationals, two divers advanced to the finals in the Men's 1m. Luke Hernandez placed sixth in the prelims (316.40), and Bo Bridges placed twelfth in the prelims (303.45). This is Bridges' first time competing in the finals at this level.
 
During the finals, both athletes placed top ten in the Men's 1m. Hernandez had another outstanding performance, placing seventh (652.25), and Bridges wasn't far behind, placing tenth overall (639.80).
 
The Wildcats had a strong showing at the USA Diving Nationals this year. The diving team has a break while the swimmers take on Texas A&M, December 19th and 20th, back home at Hillenbrand.
