TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 10 Men's Tennis is set for a three-match homestand at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center this weekend beginning with a double-header Friday, Feb. 7, and ending with a mid-day duel on Sunday.
The Wildcats will first face the Utah State Aggies on Friday at 10:00 a.m. MST, before going on to play the Loyola Maryount Lions at 2:00 p.m. The last match-up between the Cats and the Aggies was in 2018, where Arizona finished with a 4-1 win. Arizona last faced the Lions iin 2017, and lost the match 2-5. The double-header marks the first day of dual-match play since Arizona hosted ITA Kickoff Weekend two weeks ago.
Arizona will wrap its weekend at home on Sunday against No. 25 Pepperdine at 12:00 p.m. MST. The last time the two faced off one another was in 2023, where Arizona won the battle 6-1. Sunday's match will be the first ranked opponent the Cats have faced since No. 9 Florida State last month. The Waves have one singles player in the polls, No. 32 Maxi Homeberg, and one doubles pair, No. 51 Homberg and Linus Carlsson Halldin.
The most recent ITA National Polls were released Wednesday, Feb. 5, with Arizona tabbing in at No. 10 as a team. Individually, senior
Colton Smith achieved a career-high ranking of No. 3, and junior
Jay Friend a career-high of No. 5. Freshman
Zoran Ludoski came in at No. 55 to his previous 61, and
Oskar Jansson came in at No. 83. Arizona had one doubles pair ranked with
Casper Christensen and Inaki Cabera-Bello coming in at No. 58.
