TUCSON, Ariz. – Elena Deets,
Alysen Fears, and
Abigayle Martin have been selected for All-Big 12 Teams, announced by the conference Wednesday.
Elena Deets has been selected to the All-Big 12 team on beam with an NQS of 9.885, after also being selected for the preseason Big 12 team on beam.
Alysen Fears was named to the bars All-Big 12 team with a 9.890 NQS, which she was also selected for in the preseason.
Abigayle Martin has been tabbed to the All-Big 12 all-around team with an NQS of 39.315.
Deets earned All-Big 12 honors on beam after ranking 39th in the nation and fifth in conference. The fifth year senior from Maple Grove, Minnesota earned a season high on beam of 9.925 against Denver. Deets also added two 9.90s to the beam rotation in the regular season.
Fears picked up All-Big 12 honors on bars. The senior from Murrieta, California ended the regular season ranked 38th nationally and third in the conference on bars. Fears landed a season high on bars of 9.925 against Denver in McKale Center and picked up four 9.90s throughout the season.
Martin was named to the all-around All-Big 12 team. After a strong freshman season in 2024 and competing in the all-around in every meet this season, the sophomore all-arounder ranked 39th in nation and fifth in the Big 12. This season, Martin earned career highs of 9.875 on vault against Arizona State, 9.900 on floor against Utah State, and 39.450 in the all-around against BYU. On beam, Martin tied her career high of 9.90 two times during the season.
The All-Big 12 teams were determined by the top six NQS scores on each event. The All-Freshman team was voted on by each head coach in the conference.
Deets, Fears, and Martin, along with the GymCats will travel to West Valley City, Utah to compete in the Big 12 Championships on Saturday, March 22. Arizona will compete in Session 2 of the meet which is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. MST and will be televised on ESPNU. The evening session will include the top four teams in the Big 12 – Arizona, Arizona State, Denver, and Utah.
