TEMPE, Ariz. – No. 10 Arizona lost to Arizona State 3-2 on Sunday to fall to 29-5 (6-3 Big 12).
The Cats recorded six hits but could only bring two runs across.
Regan Shockey had two hits and
Devyn Netz and
Tayler Biehl drove in one run each.
Following two-and-a-half scoreless innings, ASU took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. The Sun Devils scored their first two runs with a two-run home run. ASU added the third run of the inning with an RBI double.
The Wildcats scored their first run in the sixth with an RBI single from
Tayler Biehl to make it a 3-1 game.
In the top of the seventh,
Regan Shockey scored on a fielder's choice to make it a one-run game, but it wasn't enough to make the comeback.
In the circle,
Saya Swain picked up the loss to drop to 3-2 on the season. Swain started the game and went 2.1 innings, striking out three but allowing the two-run home run.
Miranda Stoddard relieved Swain and faced two batters but gave up one run.
Ryan Maddox entered in the third and finished the game, allowing just two hits but no runs to score.

The Wildcats will head to BYU to continue to two-week road trip. The series against the Cougars will begin Thursday, March 27 in Provo, Utah.
