TEMPE, Ariz. - No. 12 Men's Tennis (21-4 overall, 6-2 Big 12) closed out their regular season with a 4-0 sweep over the Arizona State Sun Devils Saturday afternoon in Tempe.
The Cats kicked off the afternoon with closely contested doubles competition, with courts one and two pulling out wins to secure the point. Finishing first was No. 57
Jay Friend and
Eric Padgham with a 6-3 win over Nicola Cigna and Roi Ginat. Clinching the point was No. 31
Colton Smith and Inaki Cabrera-Bello on court two with a 6-4 win over Bor Artnak and Mikey Anderson.
Arizona remained dominant in singles play, with all six Cats winning their first sets over the Sun Devils. First to the finish line was sophomore
Alexander Rozin on court five with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Tanner Povey. Next door, senior
Casper Christensen set up the clinch for Arizona after winning 6-3, 6-4 over Ginat. Calling the match was No. 4 Smith on court one with a pair of 6-4 sets over No. 37 Artnak.
The win marks the end of the regular season for Arizona as they will now prepare for the Big 12 Tournament next weekend in Waco, Texas, taking place April 16-20.
