TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Women's Basketball head coach Becky Burke announced the addition of international guard Mireia Jurado to the program on Monday. Jurado, a 6-foot guard from Avinyó, Spain, brings elite global experience to the Wildcats.
Jurado joins Arizona from Spain's prestigious Segle XXI club, a program known for producing high-level NCAA talent — including former Arizona standout Helena Pueyo. Competing in Spain's second division, Liga Femenina 2, Jurado appeared in 16 games last season and averaged 6.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.6 steals in 19.9 minutes per game.
A staple of Spain's youth national team system, Jurado has competed on the international stage at both the U16 and U17 levels. She helped lead Spain to a silver medal at the 2023 FIBA U16 European Championship, averaging 6.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. In 2024, she returned to represent her country in the FIBA U17 World Cup, where Spain earned a bronze medal following a win over France in the third-place game. Jurado averaged 5.6 points and 3.7 rebounds during the tournament.
Jurado's international résumé also includes a U12 national runner-up finish with the Catalonian Team and a U16 Spanish Championship title. She led Barca CBS to a fourth-place finish in Spain's Liga Femenina Challenge and has consistently competed at the highest level of European youth basketball.
