Arizona Women’s Basketball Adds International Standout Blessing Adebanjo

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Women's Basketball head coach Becky Burke announced the addition of sophomore Blessing Adebanjo, a 6-foot-3 power forward/center from Lagos, Nigeria. Adebanjo will join the Wildcats after an accomplished career at Yamanashi Gakuin University in Japan.

Adebanjo averaged 15.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and  7.7 blocks per game in her lone collegiate season in Japan. She posted a career-high 45 points and 17 rebounds in a single game. Her efforts also earned her recognition as one of the prestigious Rookies Tournament's Best 8 and Best 5 selections, while claiming the leading scorer award.

In addition to her standout rookie season, Adebanjo was named Athlete of the Year and served as her team's lead rebounder.

"Blessing is an incredible athlete. She is long, versatile and exactly what we are looking for in the caliber of players we need to compete for a Big 12 championship. She is an incredible young woman with a great spirit and eagerness to be great. We are very lucky to have her and expect Blessing to be an immediate impact on our team," said Burke.

Prior to Yamanashi Gakuin, Adebanjo attended Japan Aviation Academy where she competed in the 2023 Winter Cup All-Japan Games.
