April Student-Athletes of the Month Announced

TUCSON, ARIZ.– Arizona's student-athletes for the month of April have been announced by C.A.T.S. Academics. The month's honorees are Jay Friend (Men's Tennis), Alysen Fears (Gymnastics), Leviticus Su'a (Football) and Will Menaugh (Men's Basketball).  

Athlete: Jay Friend
Year: Junior
Sport: Men's Tennis
Hometown: Tokyo, Japan
 
"Jay Friend is a Junior working towards a degree in Economics and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He has been a constant for Men's Tennis in the classroom and on the court. He brings a positive and passionate energy to each room he walks into. He works hard in his classes, is extremely independent, and holds himself to a very high standard. His dedication is clearly demonstrated with his high GPA and his regularly high rankings in Tennis. He has been dominant in the classroom and the court all year and brings an important dynamic to the team that people really enjoy." – Michelle Galambos, Senior Lead Coordinator

Year: Senior

Hometown: Murrieta, Calif.
 
"Senior gymnast Alysen Fears exemplifies what it means to lead with dedication, focus, and heart. A consistent force in the gym and the classroom, Alysen has never shied away from the hard work it takes to succeed. Her unwavering commitment to her sport and her team sets a powerful example for younger athletes, proving that perseverance truly pays off. Alysen leads by example and embodies the spirit of what it means to be a student-athlete. Year: Sophomore
Sport: Football
Hometown: Moreno Valley, Calif.
 
"Sophomore football standout Leviticus Su'a continues to impress with his work ethic, leadership, and dedication—both on and off the field. Known for giving his all in every practice and game, Leviticus also brings that same drive to the classroom. He's the kind of teammate I can count on and who I turn to when one of his fellow defense teammates are hitting a wall in their classes. Always striving to be his best, Leviticus leads by example and represents what it truly means to be a student-athlete. Athlete: Will Menaugh
Year: Senior
Sport: Men's Basketball
Hometown: Tucson, Ariz.
 
"Will Menaugh is a senior student-athlete and member of the men's basketball team. A native of Tucson, Will has done an outstanding job academically in his four years at The University of Arizona, finding efficient ways to balance a demanding class schedule in addition to his responsibilities with the basketball program. He is graduating at the end of spring with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Aerospace Engineering. Will recently accepted a position with Raytheon and will start his professional career with them upon graduation." – Andy Salgado, Senior Lead Academic Counselor
