Arizona Sweeps Denver, Moves on to NCAA Second Round

TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 10 Arizona Men's Tennis will move on to the second round of the NCAA Championships after taking down Denver 4-0 at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center Friday afternoon. 

 Arizona secured the early lead with the doubles point after wins on courts three and one. Finishing first was Casper Christensen and Filip Gustafsson with a 6-3 victory over Ryoma Mishiro and Raffaello Papajcik. Clinching the point was senior duo Colton Smith and Iñaki Cabrera-Bello with a 6-4 defeat over Connor Robb-Wilcox and Rikuto Yamaguchi. 

Singles played out nicely for the Cats, with all six taking their first sets. Finishing first in dominant fashion was No. 6 Jay Friend winning 6-0, 6-3 over Papajcik on court two. Setting Arizona up for the clinch was sophomore Alexander Rozin on five with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Mishiro. Clinching the match for the Cats was freshman and 103-ranked Zoran Ludoski on three with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Yamaguchi.

Friday morning, Harvard secured a 4-0 victory over Washington. They first took the doubles point with a 6-4 win on court one from No. 58 David Lins and Daniel Milavsk before a 6-2 win on court three from Melchior Delloye and Valdemar Pape. Washington took courts one, five and six, respectively, in singles with wins from No. 34 Milavsky, Delloye and Mitchell Lee. 

Arizona will face No. 21 Harvard in the second round tomorrow, May 3, at 1:00 p.m. MST at Robson Tennis Center. Entry will be $10 at the door, which will open at noon.
