Netz Named Big 12 Player of the Year; Seven Wildcats Earn All-Big 12 Honors

TUCSON, Ariz. – Seven Wildcats were named to the All-Big 12 teams announced Wednesday by the conference, highlighted by Devyn Netz as the conference's Player of the Year. Dakota Kennedy, Netz, Sydney Stewart, and Miranda Stoddard were unanimous first-team All-Big 12 selections while Kaiah Altmeyer, Regan Shockey, and Jenna Sniffen were selected to the second team. Kennedy and Netz earned spots on the All-Defensive team while Sniffen was a unanimous decision to the All-Freshman team.
 
Netz becomes Arizona's first Big 12 Player of the Year and the eighth conference Player of the Year in program history. She is receiving her first selections to the All-Big 12 first team and All-Defensive team. The fifth-year pitcher/infielder finished the regular season with a .347 batting average, 17 home runs, 58 RBI, 20 victories, and 106 strikeouts. Defensively, Netz recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 209 chances while splitting time between pitcher and first base During the season, Netz earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors twice and became the first Wildcat to hit a home run and throw a perfect game in Arizona Softball history.
 
Kennedy is a first-team All-Big 12 and All-Defensive team honoree. This is her third straight first-team all-conference honor and second consecutive All-Defensive team nod. Kennedy leads Arizona with a .439 batting average and has record 50 hits including nine doubles, two triples, and five home runs. She has notched a .526 on-base percentage which ranks second on the team and is third on the team with six stolen bases. Defensively, Kennedy has recorded a perfect fielding percentage for the second straight year and has made 54 putouts in left field.
 
Stoddard earns a spot on the All-Big 12 first team as a unanimous selection. The graduate pitcher/infielder went 12-0 with a 1.81 ERA in the circle while also batting .367 with 13 home runs and 43 RBI during the regular season. Her 1.81 ERA and .837 slugging percentage lead Arizona while her 13 home runs ranks third on the team and sixth in the conference. She was named Big 12 Player of the Week twice during the season and earned NFCA Player of the Week honors after hitting six home runs in a single weekend.
 
Stewart is receiving first-team all-conference for the first time in her career. She is second on the team with 16 home runs and 56 RBI. She ranks second in the Big 12 with a .789 slugging percentage, third with 56 RBI, and fourth with a .16 home runs. Stewart leads Arizona and ranks second in the Big 12 with 44 walks.
 
Altmeyer has been named second-team All-Big 12 for her first career all-conference honor. She leads Arizona and the Big 12 with 16 doubles which ranks 28th in the NCAA. Altmeyer closed out the regular season with a .361 batting average and was second on the team with 52 hits. She also recorded two triples and four home runs with a .568 slugging percentage during the regular season.

Shockey earns her first All-Big 12 honor as a member of the all-conference second team.  The sophomore leads the Big 12 and Arizona with 74 hits and also leads the team with 20 stolen bases. Shockey recorded a 23-game hitting streak and leads Arizona with 24 multiple-hit games during the regular season. She leads Arizona's outfield with seven assists and has assisted in three double plays.
 
Sniffen is receiving second-team All-Big 12 and unanimous All-Freshman honors. She has tallied 45 hits, nine doubles, one triple, seven home runs, and 29 RBI this season. Her 45 hits rank sixth on the team and her nine doubles ranks second on Arizona.
