STANFORD, Calif. — Arizona women's soccer dropped its first match of the season, falling 6-0 on the road to top-ranked Stanford on Thursday night at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
The Cardinal (5-0-0) struck early with three goals in the opening 17 minutes, setting the tone behind strikes from Jasmine Aikey, Charlotte Kohler, and Shae Harvey. Stanford added three more in the second half, with Kohler netting her second of the night before Aikey and defender Elise Evans capped off the scoring.
Arizona (3-1-0) managed six shots on the evening, including one on target from Kennedy Fletcher, but could not break through against Stanford's defense. Goalkeeper Olivia Ramey made seven saves in 73 minutes of action, while freshman Sofia Cortes-Browne added three stops in relief.
The Wildcats continue their Bay Area road swing on Sunday, Sept. 1, when they face California at 1 p.m. in Berkeley.
