Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. – The Wildcats improved to 2-0 on the season after beating Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in three sets on Saturday for the team's second consecutive sweep.
Arizona hit .355 as a team with five blocks and four aces to control the game from the first set.
Jordan Wilson led the attack with 14 kills and a .414 hitting percentage and was a part of four blocks. Sophomore
Adrianna Bridges followed Wilson with 10 kills and hit .529 to set career high marks in both categories.
The Cats won the first set, 25-18. Arizona held the lead the entire set and out-hit A&M – Corpus Christi .353-.263. Wilson totaled five kills and Bridges had four kills to lead the offense. The Wildcats began the set on a 4-0 run and never gave the Islanders a chance to take the lead.
Arizona took a 2-0 lead over the Islanders with a 25-19 win in the second set. After five lead changes in the set, the Cats took the lead at 18-17 and ended on a 4-0 run to win the set. Arizona hit .304 with 19 kills and were led by Wilson who tallied seven kills with a .636 clip.
Carlie Cisneros added four kills and Bridges followed with three kills.
The Cats dominated the third set with a 25-13 victory to win the match. Arizona recorded 4.0 blocks and hit .444 with two service aces to win the set. Bridges and
Britt Carlson knocked down three kills each to lead the attack while three Cats had two kills each. Wilson recorded three blocks – one solo and two assisted – and
Maya Flemister tallied a pair of blocks.
Arizona will close out the Wildcat Classic against Fresno State on Sunday, August 31 at 12:30 p.m. MST in McKale Center.
