Arizona Drops Three-Set Match to No. 1 Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Arizona Wildcats (6-4) were swept by No. 1 Nebraska (19-25, 23-25, 18-25) on Saturday night in Lincoln.  

Jordan Wilson led all attackers in the match with 17 kills and Carlie Cisneros followed Wilson with eight kills and a .300 clip. Arizona's defense totaled three blocks against the Huskers.
 
Nebraska won the opening set, 25-19. Arizona fought off five set points for Nebraska after climbing back from a nine-point deficit, but it wasn't enough for the Cats. The Wildcats recorded 11 kills, led by Wilson with six kills and a .357 hitting percentage.   
 
Arizona dropped the second set, 23-25, to the Huskers. The Wildcats tied the second set five times and fought off three set points. Arizona's defense had two blocks to hold Nebraska's offense to a .256 hitting percentage. Wilson led the offense with six kills while four other Cats contributed two kills each and Adrianna Bridges was involved in both blocks in the set.
 
The Huskers won the third set, 25-18, to win the match. Arizona out-blocked Nebraska 2.0-1.0 in the third set but the Huskers never gave up the lead. The Wildcats kept the set close but the Huskers used well-timed runs to create separation. Wilson tallied five kills while Cisneros had four kills and a .667 clip to lead the offense. Sydnie Vanek had two blocks and two kills for the Cats in the final set.

Arizona will begin Big 12 action at Kansas State on Friday, September 26 at 4:30 p.m. MST in Manhattan, Kansas.
