TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona women's soccer earned a 2–1 victory over Denver on Thursday night at Murphy Field at Mulcahy Stadium.
The Wildcats (4–2–0) went in front in the 20th minute when sophomore forward Narissa Fults scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Aurora Gaines. Arizona doubled its lead in the 78th minute as junior midfielder Sami Baytosh converted a penalty kick for her first goal of the season.
Denver (2–1–3) cut the deficit in the 85th minute on a goal from Annie Philbin, assisted by Lily O'Grady, but the Wildcats held strong the rest of the way to close out the match.
Arizona finished with an 11–9 advantage in shots, including a 7–4 edge in shots on target. The Wildcats also controlled 59 percent of possession and earned seven corner kicks to Denver's three. Goalkeeper Olivia Ramey made three saves to secure her fourth win of the season.
The Wildcats return to action on Sunday, Sept. 7, hosting Pepperdine at 10:30 a.m. for First Responders Appreciation at Mulcahy Stadium.
