TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona mounted a strong second-half rally but came up short in a 68–61 loss at Arizona State on Wednesday night at Desert Financial Arena.
The Wildcats erased a seven-point halftime deficit with an impressive third-quarter surge, outscoring the Sun Devils 23–17 while shooting 63.6 percent from the field. Arizona built an eight-point lead midway through the period before Arizona State responded down the stretch.
Noelani Cornfield led Arizona with a game-high 19 points and six assists, while Kamryn Kitchen finished with 14 points. Sumayah Sugapong added 10 points as the Wildcats placed three players in double figures.
Arizona continued to battle in the fourth quarter but was limited to 12 points as Arizona State sealed the game at the free-throw line. The Wildcats finished the night shooting 45.8 percent from the field.
