Sydney Stewart Lifts No. 11 Arizona to Series Win Over Arizona State

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 11 Arizona (23-8, 6-3 Big 12) won the final game against Arizona State, 6-4, to secure the series win on Sunday at Hillenbrand Stadium.
 
The Cats plated six runs on 11 hits and drew six walks in the game. Regan Shockey and Jenna Sniffen both recorded three hits while Sydney Stewart hit the game-winning home run and drove in three runs.
 
Arizona struck first with one run in the first inning on an RBI single from Grace Jenkins to get the offense going for the Cats. In the third inning, Arizona took a 3-0 lead on a sacrifice fly from Emma Kavanagh and Kez Lucas followed with an RBI single to extend Arizona's lead.
 
The Cats took a 4-0 lead in the fourth when Stewart singled up the middle to drive in Shockey.
 
ASU tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth. An RBI double put the Sun Devils on the board, an RBI single brought home their second run, and a two-run double tied the game.
 
In the bottom of the sixth, Tayler Biehl singled to get on base for Stewart to give Arizona the 6-4 lead with a two-run home run - her 11th of the season.
 
Jalen Adams picked up the win to improve to 13-4 on the season. She pitched seven innings and allowed two runs on five hits while striking out two batters. Rylie Holder entered in the sixth to face two batter and allowed two runs on two hits before Adams re-entered the circle.

Up Next
No. 11 Arizona will host Grand Canyon on Tuesday, March 24 at 6 p.m. MST before welcoming Baylor for a three-game series beginning Friday, March 27 at Hillenbrand Stadium.
