TUCSON, Ariz. –Â
Kez Lucas has been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week for back-to-back weeks, announced by the conference on Tuesday. She is Arizona's first back-to-back Big 12 Freshman of the Week and the first Wildcat to earn back-to-back conference Freshman of the Week honors since
Regan Shockey did so in the Pac-12 in 2024.
Â
Lucas helped Arizona to a 4-0 week with a win over then-No. 23 Grand Canyon and a series sweep over Baylor by batting .533 (8-for-14) with a double and a home run. She drove in three runs and recorded an .800 slugging percentage and a .563 on-base percentage during the week.
Â
She recorded a hit in every game of the week to extend her hitting streak to six games and tied her career high of three hits in back-to-back games against GCU and Baylor. Lucas helped Arizona run-rule Baylor in the opening game of the series with a solo home run for her fourth home run of the season.
Â
Lucas and Arizona will head to Iowa State to continue Big 12 play for a three-game series beginning Thursday, April 2 at 2 p.m. MST. Â Â
