PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Arizona Baseball right-handed pitcher Owen Kramkowski, a key weekend starter for the Wildcats over the past two seasons, has been selected by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 145th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2026 MLB Draft.
Kramkowski is the first Wildcat to be selected in this year's MLB Draft and becomes the 294th MLB Draft pick in Arizona Baseball history.
The Sahuarita, Arizona, native joined the Arizona Baseball program ahead of the 2024 season. After making just three relief appearances as a freshman, Kramkowski earned a spot in Arizona's weekend rotation in 2025 and put together a breakout campaign. He started 18 games on the mound and compiled a team-best 9-6 record while posting a 5.48 ERA over 92.0 innings. Kramkowski recorded a team-high 90 strikeouts while issuing just 18 walks, earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention recognition after helping the Wildcats finish 44-21, capture the Big 12 Tournament Championship, and advance to the 2025 College World Series.
Kramkowski served as Arizona's Friday night starter throughout the 2026 season, posting a 6.13 ERA over 72.0 innings. He led the Wildcats in strikeouts for the second consecutive season, recording 75 while issuing just 15 walks. Kramkowski was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on March 9 following a dominant outing against Fresno State (March 6), tossing 6.0 innings while recording a career-high 12 strikeouts.
