TUCSON, Ariz.- Junior outfielder Brian Anderson was selected by the Chicago White Sox with the 15th overall pick on Tuesday in the June Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Anderson, a three-year starter for the Wildcats, posted his best season with Arizona in the recently completed 2003 season. The right-hander batted .366 with career highs in hits (85), runs (58), RBIs (61), home runs (14), doubles (12), triples (9) and stolen bases (17). He was named All-Pac-10 upon conclusion of the 2003 regular season and garnered second team All-America honors from USA Today/Sports Weekly.
Listed by Baseball America as the top pro prospect in the state of Arizona and the No. 27 prospect overall, Anderson is a career .342 batter with 135 runs scored, 25 doubles, 14 triples, 23 home runs and 130 RBIs.
