TUCSON - The Arizona Wildcat No. 14 men's and No. 8 women's track and field teams will begin the championship portion of the season with the combined events section of the Pac-12 Championships. The competition will take place in Eugene, Ore. at Hayward Field on May 5-6. Competition on Saturday begins at 11:30 a.m. MST for the decathlon and 11:45 a.m. is the start time for the heptathlon.

The Arizona men and women will compete against Arizona State (M: 3, W: 11), California (M: NR, W: NR), Colorado (M: NR, W: NR), Oregon (M: 22, W: 7), Oregon State (M: NR, W: NR), Stanford (M: 19, W: 12), UCLA (M: NR, W: NR), USC (M: 4, W: 13), Utah (M: NR, W: NR), Utah (W: NR), Washington (M: NR, W: NR), Washington State (M: NR, W: NR).

Senior Liana Fuentes and sophomore Amber Passalaqua will represent Arizona in the heptathlon. Fuentes' score of 5,261 at the Jim Click Shootout earlier this year is currently the third-best mark in the conference. At the 2011 Pac-10 Championships, Fuentes earned a third-place finish with a personal-best score of 5,313 points. That is the eighth-best score in school history. Passalaqua also competed at the Jim Click Shootout this year. Her score of 5,024 points is the seventh-best total in the conference this year.

On the men's side, sophomore Keegan Cooke and freshman Harrison Ivie are set to compete for Arizona in the decathlon. At the Jim Click Shootout, Cooke scored 6,573 points. That total is the ninth-best score in the conference year and was a national record in Zimbabwe, his native country. Ivie scored 6,477 points in his first career decathlon at the Jim Click Shootout. That score is good for 10th in the conference this year.

The Arizona men have six marks that currently sit in the top 10 in the country. Sophomore Lawi Lalang's school-record time of 3:36.77 in the 1,500-meter run is the top collegiate time in the country. Lalang also has the No. 2 time in the 5,000 meters, clocking a personal-best time of 13:18.88 at the Mt. SAC Relays. Senior Stephen Sambu has the fifth-best time in the 5,000 meters; he ran 13:31.51 at the Stanford Invitational. Sambu holds the No. 4 time in the country for the 10K, he clocked a time of 28:06.16. Juniors Nick Ross and Edgar Rivera-Morales are tied for the second-best mark in the country. They both have cleared 7-4.5 (2.25m) in the high jump.

On the women's side, Arizona holds five marks that sit in the top 10. Junior Georganne Moline holds the top spot in 400-meter hurdles, her school-record time of 55.25 is also the No. 2 time in the world. Arizona's 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Shapri Romero, senior Echos Blevins, sophomore Tamara Pridgett and Moline hold the No. 7 time in the country, 3:33.17. Junior Brigetta Barrett holds the top high jump mark in the country, her clearance of 6-4.75 (1.95m) is also tied for the second-best mark in the world. Junior Alyssa Hasslen hold the top mark in the shot put, her personal-best toss of 60-2.5 (18.35m) is also the second-best mark in UA history. Senior Taylor Bush's school-record toss of 209-3 (63.78m) at the Mt. SAC Relays is the No. 8 mark in the country.

The main ticket office at the Moshofsky Center will be open Monday, May 7 through Friday, May 11. Those wishing to purchase tickets beginning on Saturday, May 12 will need to do so at Hayward Field. The ticket windows at Hayward Field will open 90 minutes prior to the start of competition. Access to the Pac-12 heptathlon and decathlon is free of charge. All-Session passes and individual day tickets to the 2012 Pac-12 Championships are now available through the Oregon Athletic Ticket Office.
