Brian Anderson

  • Title
    Undergraduate Assistant
All-American Wildcat and former 1st round MLB Draft selection Brian Anderson was named to head coach Chip Hale's first coaching staff at Arizona in August 2021.

During the 2022 season Anderson served as the Wildcats first base coach while also steering the development of the team's outfielders. Under his guidance Arizona's regular outfielders of Chase Davis, Mac Bingham, and Tanner O'Tremba combined to post a .980 fielding percentage and log six outfield assists. The trio also excelled at the plate, hitting 35 home runs and driving in 157 RBI between them. Following an outstanding 2022 season working with Anderson, O'Tremba was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 15th round of the 2022 MLB Draft.

Anderson, a standout player at Arizona from 2001–03, returned to Tucson to finish his college degree in Human and Social Behavior as the Wildcats undergraduate assistant coach.

He kicked off his collegiate career by earning a Freshman All-American selection in 2001 and capped his successful three-year stint with All-American and All-Pac-10 First Team nods as a junior in 2003. Anderson hit .342 with 135 runs, 25 doubles, 14 triples, 23 home runs, and 130 RBI while representing the Block A. His 26-game hit streak in 2003 still stands tied as the longest in a single season in program history.

Following his time with the Wildcats, Anderson was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the first round of the 2003 draft. He enjoyed a five-year Major League career that included time spent with the White Sox (2005–09) and the Boston Red Sox (2009).
