Jack Meggs was hired as Assistant Coach/Hitting Coach by Arizona Baseball and Head Coach Chip Hale on June 3, 2026. He serves as the hitting coach and will oversee Arizona’s offense.

Meggs arrived in Tucson after serving as the hitting coach at Saint Mary's for the past four seasons, while also holding the title of Associate Head Coach during the final two seasons. Saint Mary’s saw unprecedented levels of success during Meggs’ time on staff, and the rise of the Gaels’ offense under Meggs’ guidance was a driving force behind the program’s overall success.
Meggs helped Saint Mary’s win back-to-back WCC Tournament titles and reach the NCAA Tournament in 2025 and 2026, marking the first time in program history that Saint Mary's made consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2025, the Gaels defeated No. 8 seed Oregon State in the opening game of the Corvallis Regional, marking the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history. The following season, Saint Mary's defeated No. 1 overall seed UCLA twice in the Los Angeles Regional, advancing to the Regional Final. Saint Mary’s opening win over UCLA in the Los Angeles Regional marked the first time under the current NCAA Tournament format that the No. 4 seed defeated the No. 1 overall seed in the regional round.
Meggs helped coordinate a Saint Mary's offense that ranked among the top two teams in the WCC in batting average over the past three seasons, including leading the conference in each of the past two seasons.
In 2026, the Gaels finished with a 36-27 overall record and led the WCC in batting average (.327), hits (727), runs (453), doubles (159), triples (19), home runs (68), RBI (416), walks (231), slugging percentage (.508), and on-base percentage (.406). Meggs helped mentor seven position players who earned All-WCC honors, including First Team selections Ian Armstrong and Diego Castellanos.
Saint Mary's offensive prowess was nearly as impressive in 2025, as the Gaels ranked first in the WCC in batting average (.299), hits (628), runs (471), RBI (419), on-base percentage (.392), and slugging percentage (.480).
In 2024, Saint Mary's set a new program record with 103 home runs during the season. Meggs helped develop Christian Almanza, who broke the program's single-season and career home run records, blasting 24 home runs during the campaign to finish his career with 47 total homers.
During Meggs' first season with the Gaels in 2023, he helped the Saint Mary’s improve their batting average from .235 the previous season to .267 while also breaking the program's single-season home run record at the time with 76.
Prior to joining the staff at Saint Mary's, Meggs served as the hitting coach at the University of Kansas during the 2022 season. Meggs helped oversee a Jayhawk offense that more than doubled its home run output from the previous season, increasing from 27 to 55, while also improving its extra-base-hit total by 30%. Four Kansas hitters earned All-Big 12 recognition during the 2022 campaign. Before becoming the full-time hitting coach at Kansas in the fall of 2021, Meggs served as a graduate assistant while earning his master's degree in sports management.
A Seattle, Washington, native and the son of former Washington head coach Lindsay Meggs, he enjoyed a standout four-year career with the Huskies from 2014-17. While at Washington, Meggs helped the program reach the NCAA Tournament in 2014 and 2016. He earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors and was named to the All-Pac-12 Defensive Team in 2016 before receiving All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention recognition in 2017. At the conclusion of his career, he ranked fourth in program history in both games played (212) and at-bats (692).
Meggs was selected in the 10th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics. After spending two seasons in the Athletics organization, he signed a free-agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2020 before beginning his coaching career at Kansas.
