Zach Wilkins joined the Arizona baseball staff as a Graduate Assistant for the 2018 season and recently completed his second year in Tucson. Prior to his time with the Wildcats, Wilkins played collegiately under Arizona head coach Jay Johnson during his time at Nevada.

As A Player

NEVADA 
2016 (Sr.): Made 14 appearances with seven starts in his senior season…Posted a 7.61 ERA and a 3-3 record…Logged 36.2 innings pitched, allowing 51 hits and 31 runs…Tallied 29 strikeouts compared to just nine walks…Went a season-high 7.0 innings with just two runs in a win against Santa Clara…Also posted wins against Northwestern and UC Davis…Struck out a season-high eight batters in his first appearance of the season…Helped lead Nevada to a second place finish in the Mountain West and to its first MW tournament finals appearance in program history…Letter winner. 

2015 (Jr.): Made 21 appearances and one start in his first season at Nevada…Posted a 3.26 ERA in 30.1 innings…Recorded a 2-0 record with two saves…Pitched in one combined shutout…Struck out 26 batters compared to 10 walks…Limited opponents to a .214 batting average, which led Nevada among pitchers with at least 10 innings…Posted a 1.26 ERA with nine appearances and one start in regular season conference games…Logged a season-high 3.2 innings in a victory over Fresno State…Set a career-high with six strikeouts in a victory over Saint Mary’s…Helped lead Nevada to its first-ever Mountain West championship and to its second-winningest season in program history…Letter winner. 

PRIOR TO NEVADA
College: Played under head coach Buck Taylor for two seasons at Palomar College in San Diego, Calif…Led the Comets to the Pacific Coast Athletics Conference championship in 2013 and 2014…As a freshman, earned All-PCAC and All-America honors after setting the program record for saves in a season (12)…Tallied a 0.79 ERA with a 3-0 record in his first season at Palomar while not allowing a single extra base hit…Pitched over 83 innings and posted an 8-1 record as a sophomore…Led the Comets with a 1.41 ERA and 33 strikeouts…Set a conference record for most saves in conference games in a season (8). 

High School: Attended Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego, Calif…Three-year letter winner in baseball and a letter winner in basketball.

PERSONAL 
Son of Dean and Lisa Wilkins…Father, Dean, played professionally for the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros from 1989-92…Older brother, Ryan, pitched in the College World Series in 2013 for North Carolina State…Enjoys basketball, fishing and golfing in his spare time.
