    Assistant Strength Coach
Director of Speed Development for the Wildcats program at the University of Arizona. Shaw spent the previous two years as Assistant Strength Coach at the University of Missouri. At Mizzou he was responsible for Strength and Conditioning and Speed Enhancement for the Tigers. He also served as Director of Sport Science and Mental Conditioning. Shaw spent a year at the University of Kansas as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.Prior to joining the college football ranks Shaw spent 12 years coaching and mentoring high school athletes in Alabama and Mississippi. His last 6 years he served as Strength and Conditioning Coach and Defensive Backs Coach for St.Paul’s Episcopal High School in Mobile, AL where he helped the Saints win 3 AHSAA State Championships.

Shaw earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Belhaven University. He finished his playing career as a defensive back for the Blazers after transferring from the University of Alabama Birmingham. After graduating he began his coaching career as a graduate assistant (cornerbacks coach) and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Belhaven University.

Coach Shaw is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), (USAW), and he’s CPR/First Aid certified through the American Red Cross Association. Shaw is married to Britney Shaw and has four children, John A. Shaw III, Asher Shaw, Shiloh Shaw, and Roman Shaw.
