Becca Moros was announced as Arizona Soccer’s head coach on June 16, 2021.
Arizona tallied 25 goals in its 2023 season, nine of which came from striker Nicole Dallin. That number was good for the fourth-most by a Pac-12 player that season. The Wildcats tallied conference wins over Oregon, Utah and Arizona State and posted a 1-1 draw with No. 11 USC when Ella Hatteberg scored her first career goal.
Hope Hisey became the program record holder in career saves with 366 and was named 2023 Pac-12 Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She made 77 saves in her final year with Arizona, good to rank her second in program history in single-season saves.
Hisey became the second Wildcat in program history to be drafted in the NWSL Draft when she was selected by the Kansas City Current with the 46th pick in the draft. Both of Arizona's draftees have been chosen in the Moros era.
The Wildcats started 2022 with wins over Iowa State and Texas Tech, marking the first time in program history Arizona opened a season with back-to-back wins over Power 5 conference opponents.
Moros led the Wildcats to 8-7-3 in her second year as head coach, including five wins in conference. Arizona finished in sixth place after being chosen last in preseason conference polls.
Moros led her squad to 21 goals in 2022. The team’s shots per game average improved from 9.9 shots in 2021 to 11.2 shots per game in 2022. The Wildcat defense made just 61 saves opposed to 102 saves in the previous year and still allowed 15 fewer goals on the season. Under Moros Arizona saw its first-ever selection in the NWSL Draft when Iliana Hocking was chosen by NJ/NY Gotham FC with the 44th pick.
During her first season in the desert, Moros helped mentor Jill Aguilera as she became Arizona’s all-time leader in goal’s scored. Moros’ squad also took down rival Arizona State, 2-1, in the regular-season finale, the Wildcats seventh-straight win over the Sun Devils.
Prior to arriving at Arizona, Moros was an assistant coach for Gotham FC in 2020 and helped the club win the east division in the 2021 Challenge Cup, serving as the acting head coach for the final group stage match. Gotham FC finished the Challenge Cup as runners-up in an eventual penalty shootout.
Moros was a standout student-athlete at Duke, where she was an All-American and a three-time All-ACC selection throughout her career. She appeared in 86 matches and scored 15 career goals to along with 20 assists - which is tied for fifth-most career assists in Duke history. She also competed for the USA U21 National Team in 2006 and was a team captain during her senior season.
After her college career was over, Moros was drafted in the sixth round (36th overall) of the 2009 Women’s Professional Soccer Draft by the Washington Freedom. She went on to play three years in the WPS, two years in the Nadeshiko League in Japan and six years in the NWSL.
Moros retired from professional soccer in 2019 after playing her final season with Utah Royals FC and immediately went into coaching. At the time, she joined a shortlist of players from the NWSL to transition into a fulltime coaching position at the end of their playing career.
