Collins-Parker joins Arizona with over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience and one year with Athletes Unlimited. During her years as a collegiate coach, Collins-Parker amassed over 330 wins.
In the 2023 season, Arizona averaged 1.77 blocks/set under Collins-Parker’s guidance. Nicole Briggs led the Wildcats with 0.77 blocks/set and Alayna Johnson had 0.69 blocks/set. Four Wildcats totaled more than 45 blocks during the season.
Prior to joining Arizona, Collins-Parker spent time as the head coach at San Diego State, Cornell, and UNLV with assistant coaching positions at Coastal Carolina, South Alabama, Northern Arizona, and Houston.
At Coastal Carolina, Collins-Parker helped the Chants to a 19-9 overall record and coached the team to the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament semifinals. She helped CCU lead the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.252), blocks per set (2.53), and fewest kills per set allowed (11.39). In conference action, she helped the Chants rank first in kills (820), assists (757), blocks (172.0), and blocks per set (2.67). She also coached four Chants to All-Sun Belt honors.
Collins-Parker led San Diego State for 11 years from 2009-19. Her time with SDSU was highlighted by the 2012 Mountain West co-championship and Mountain West Coach of the Year honors.
She led Cornell to two NCAA Tournament appearances and three Ivy League titles. In addition, she spent eight years as the head coach at UNLV where she earned Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors in 1998.
Internationally, Collins-Parker served as the head coach of the 1998, 2000 and 2001 U.S. junior national teams and led the Mountain West All-Star team to a third-place finish at the European Global Challenge in 2014.
As a player, Collins-Parker led the University of Hawai’i to back-to-back National Championships and was a two-time Honda Broderick Cup Award honoree as the National Player of the Year in 1983 and 1984. She was the first volleyball player to win the Honda Cup given to the nation’s top female collegiate athlete. She still holds the NCAA record for solo blocks in one NCAA Championship Tournament (15 in 1982) and was one of six players named to the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball 25th Anniversary Team in October 2005.
Professionally, Collins-Parker played in the Italian league and the French League from 1988-91 and won the French League Championship twice and the European Cup of Champions in 1990.
Collins-Parker was awarded with the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award in 2009, awarded to former student-athletes who successfully completed collegiate careers in various sports and have excelled in their chosen professions on the 25th anniversary of completing their athletic eligibility.
A 1995 graduate of Hawai’i with a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast communications, she was inducted into the AVCA Hall of Fame in the fall of 2008 and she is currently a chairperson on the AVCA Minority Coaches Committee.
