C.A.T.S Clinical and Sport Psychology Athletics Counselor
Mykal Manswell is an Athletics Counselor at the University of Arizona. In his role at Arizona, Mykal provides mental health counseling & mental performance services to university student-athletes, consults with coaches, and works within the interdisciplinary sport medicine staff to improve physical/mental treatment outcomes.
Prior to arriving at Arizona, Manswell worked in both private practice and community mental health settings as an associate licensed clinician providing individual/couple's psychotherapy services focusing on concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, relationship conflicts and life adjustments. He worked at the Center of Excellence, a substance abuse & mental health clinic, working with student-athletes and adults from the general public. Manswell has worked in settings focusing on child psychology populations at a 24/7 psychiatric residential facility for teens/adolescents with trauma and at Kindercare Early Childhood Education teaching children ages 3-7.
Manswell earned a master's in counseling psychology from Robert Morris University, and a Bachelor's degree in Sport & Exercise Psychology from West Virginia University where he was a member of the football program. During his graduate training, Mykal engaged in scholarly research focusing on athletic identity and the transition out of sport among student-athletes.
