TUCSON, Ariz. -Arizona scored 16 runs in the final five innings of Friday's contest against Brigham Young University to claim its first win of the season with a final score of 17-13.
	The Wildcats' record improves to 1-1, while BYU falls to 1-1 as well.  Freshman John Meloan was the winning pitcher after he threw 3 1/3 innings, giving up only one run.
	The Wildcats rallied from a 7-1 deficit, outscoring the Cougars 16-6 over the game's final six innings.  Arizona plated three runs in the fourth inning on two walks, a single by senior first baseman Pat Reilly and a double by freshman center fielder Chris Frey.  Arizona's hit parade was on as they garnered 13 hits in the next four innings.  Reilly finished the day 3-for-5 with four RBI.
	Leading the offensive barrage for the Wildcats was freshman leadoff hitter Brad Boyer who was 4-for-6 with four runs scored.  Boyer also reached base on an error Friday.  In 11 career plate appearances, Boyer, a leftfielder from Camarillo, Calif., has reached base safely nine times.
	Kainoa Obrey led the Cougars as he went 5-for-6 with 3 runs and 3 RBI.  Starting pitcher Michel Bergeron went 4 2/3 innings, giving up nine hits, 8 runs, but only four earned runs. Scott Koffman took the loss for BYU after surrendering five runs in 1 1/3 innings.
	The rubber game of the series is Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. at Frank Sancet Field on The University of Arizona campus.
