EUGENE, Ore. - Four University of Arizona men's golfers posted sub-par rounds Monday as the team remained in second place at the Oregon Duck Invitational.
Junior Chris Nallen jumped into the top 10 after the second round, as he shot a five-under-par 69 to move up 10 spots on the leaderboard. His two-round total of 141 (-3) puts him in a tie for sixth place, seven strokes behind tournament-leader Brock Mackenzie of Washington at 134 (-10).
Nallen's efforts solidified Arizona's second-place standing in the 16-team field. The Wildcats' second-round 282 (-6) was the second lowest team round of the day and gave the squad a 572 (-4) total, four strokes behind tournament-leading Washington.
Senior Ricky Barnes continued his solid play Monday, as he carded a one-under-par 71 and stands in fourth place after 36 holes at 139 (-5).
Two other Wildcat golfers also finished under par in Monday's second round, as seniors Reid Hatley and Brian Woolf each tallied one-under par 71s. Hatley's effort moved him into a tie for 13th place at 145 (+1), while Woolf moved up 20 places in the standings to a tie for 30th place at 147 (+3). The final UA golfer, Andrew Medley, carded a 73 and currently stands tied for 54th place at 150 (+6).
The Oregon Duck Invitational concludes this afternoon. The 54-hole event is being contested at the Eugene Country Club, a par 72, 6,854-yard layout.
