Cats Are In Second Place at The End of Day One of The Arizona Thunderbird Intercollegiate

The Wildcats sit in second place after two rounds of the Arizona Thunderbird Intercollegiate, finishing the day at 19-under par through 36 holes at Tucson Country Club. The Cats were able to finish their second round but play was suspended due to darkness. The other teams will finish up their second round in the morning at 7:00am MST before playing the final round later that morning.
Arizona fired rounds of 11-under and 8-under as a team and has three players inside the top 10 heading into the final round.

Leading the way for the Wildcats is Filip Jakubcik, who sits in third place at 8-under par. Jakubcik opened the tournament with a 67 that featured four birdies on the front nine and three more on the back. He followed it with a 69 in round two, including a strong 3-under back nine, keeping him firmly in contention for the individual title.
Arizona has two players tied for sixth at 5-under par in William Wistrand and Taishi Moto. Wistrand put together a 4-under opening round, followed by a 71 in round two, highlighted by an eagle on the 10th hole. Moto carded rounds of 70 and 69, finishing his second round with three birdies on the back nine to move into the top 10.
Zach Pollo sits in 21st place at 1-under par after rounds of 72 and 71.Rounding out the lineup is Connor Hamm, who is 3-over par through two rounds after posting scores of 74 and 73.
With three Wildcats inside the top 10 and the team deep in the red numbers, Arizona is in strong position heading into the final round just a few shots back of Long Beach State at Tucson Country Club. The Wildcats will look to continue their momentum and chase the team title in the final 18 holes beginning at 7:30am MST. Bear Down!
