TUCSON—In the nightcap of the Wildcat Classic the Arizona women's volleyball team beat San Jose State 3-0 at McKale Center.
The Wildcats won the first set 25-19, cruised the Spartans in the second set 25-13 and held off San Jose State, winning the third set 28-26.
“It's always a good win and I'm happy for the kids,” head coach Dave Rubio said after the game. “We're a little rough, but that's to be expected earlier in the year. We just have cut down on the errors and continue to get better.”
Arizona was led offensively for the second straight game by sophomore Tiffany Owens with 13 kills and a .455 hitting percentage. She was 13-for-22 with three errors. Owens also led the team with nine digs.
As a team, the Wildcats had 16 hitting errors and nine service errors.
The win over San Jose State brought Arizona to 2-0 in the Wildcat Classic. The Wildcats beat Weber State earlier Friday 3-0.
