In the No. 1 position, Natasha Marks and Sarah Landsman came out with an early lead against Martina Trierweiler and Carolina DeLuca. After a comeback attempt by UTEP, Marks and Landsman won 8-6. Susan Mc Rann and Jane Huh played in the No. 2 position against Ximena Fuentes and Gabi Vazquez. After a back and forth battle, the Cats won 8-6. In the No. 3 position, Debora Castany and Lacey Smyth played Darly Abdrakhmanova and Marie LeBlond. The UA team won 9-8 (7-5).

In singles play, Smyth, who played in the No. 2 position, was the first to finish with a 6-0, 6-0 win over DeLuca. Second to finish was Landsman in the No. 3 position who defeated Vazquez, 6-1, 6-0. In the No. 1 position, Marks took an early lead over Trierweiler for a 6-4, 6-1 win. Mc Rann played in the No. 4 position against Glebova and won 6-0, 6-3. Huh defeated Leblond, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 6 position. Last to finish was Castany in the No. 5 position. She topped Fuentes with a 6-2, 6-3 win.

"The team had a bit of a slow start in doubles, but we recovered and did a nice job of closing out all three matches," head coach Vicky Maes said. "This gave us momentum going into the singles and we were able to control all courts. Overall it was a great weekend for the Cats."

The Wildcats play next at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, Calif. on January 28.
