TUCSON, Ariz. -University of Arizona Wildcat women's soccer team, propelled by goalie Ashley Jett'sfive saves, battled Texas Tech to a 0-0 tie in two overtimes Sunday night in the final match of the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort Cats Classic on Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium.

Junior forward Renae Cuellar led Arizona (0-7-1) with four shot attempts, two on-goal for the match. Sophomores Ana-Maria Montoya and Samantha Cummingsalso added a pair of shots each, along with one on-goal attempt apiece. On the night, the Wildcats out-shot Texas Tech 6-5 in on-goal attempts.

"Our backs and goalie did a good job tonight," Oyen added. "They started off a little rough, but regained composure as the game progressed. They all did great, especially Ashley, for earning her first shutout of the season."

Jett made three saves during regulation, and a pair of leaping deflections in the first overtime period to keep the game going. Texas Tech's (5-3-1) Taylor Lytle took both shots in the third period, and Lytle led the Red Raiders with six shots on the night, three on-goal.

For the match, the Wildcats were out shot by the Red Raiders 16-11.

Jett, along with juniors Kristin Strother and Alex Smithwere named to the Cats Classic All-Tournament Team. Cuellar and Smith were named Offensive and Defensive MVPs, respectively.

"This was a positive outcome in our preparation for our conference schedule," head coach Lisa Oyensaid. "We played the most complete game so far, and for our first shut-out, we were very consistent throughout. In any game, you're going to make some mistakes, but I was pleased to see that we were able to compensate. Overall, this was just a very good match to prepare for our first conference match."

Up next, the Wildcats will start the Pac-12 Conference schedule with the first of three road matches, first facing Stanford on Saturday, September 24th at 7 p.m. MST in Palo Alto, California.

Arizona State vs. Pacific Final Box Get Acrobat Reader

In the third match of the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort Cats Classic, Pacific faced off against Arizona State, losing 1-0 to the Sun Devils. Alexanrda Doller hit the only goal of the day in the 86th minute, and keeper Alyssa Gilmore added one save for the win.
