Box Score SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Oregon (12-1) got into a rhythm in the second quarter and never looked back. Quarterback Marcus Mariota led the Ducks to a 51-13 victory over the Arizona Wildcats (10-3) and a Pac-12 Championship. He finished the night 25-38 for 313 yards and two touchdowns through the air, while collecting three rushing touchdowns. The Oregon defense flourished all night as Arizona only managed 224 yards of total offense.
The Ducks started fast by driving down the field with ease on their first possession. However, on third and eight, seniors Tra'Mayne Bondurant and Jared Tevis made a big stop on the left sideline. Kicker Aidan Schneider then drilled a 34-yard field goal to take the first lead of the game.
On the ensuing kickoff, freshman Tyrell Johnson fumbled on the return and Oregon recovered. The Arizona defense came up big once again by only allowing another Schneider field goal, giving them a 6-0 lead with 7:55 left in the first quarter.
After the Wildcats' first offensive drive stalled, the Ducks drove down to Arizona's 25-yard line, but once again the defense stepped up. Mariota's fourth down pass fell incomplete and Arizona took over.
After a few empty possessions, Oregon drove down to Arizona's one-yard line and had a fourth down ahead of them. Two false starts later, the Ducks missed a 27-yard field goal wide right.
Oregon scored the first touchdown of the game after a seven-yard rush my Mariota, giving the Ducks a 13-0 lead with 7:27 left in the second quarter. That score capped a five-play, 39-yard drive, which took 1:10 off the clock.
After some more stellar defense by Oregon, they took over again at their own 10-yard line. Mariota found Charles Nelson on a 78-yard pass, and later finished the drive by running in his second touchdown of the game making the score 20-0.
The Ducks forced another three-and-out and drove right down the field with ease. The first half came to a close after a 31-yard field goal by Schneider, making the score 23-0.
Senior Jesse Scroggins III entered the game at quarterback to start the second half. He earned a first down on the first possession, but the Wildcats couldn't convert a fourth down and Oregon took over.
It didn't take too long for the Ducks to score after taking over. Mariota found Devon Allen in the back of the end zone for a four-yard touchdown pass, giving Oregon a 30-0 lead with 10:37 left in the third quarter.
Arizona got on the board after a 69-yard touchdown pass from Scroggins to wide receiver Cayleb Jones. The drive only took two plays and covered 70 yards in 54 seconds. The score cut Oregon's lead to 30-7 with 9:34 left in the third quarter.
Oregon extended its lead to 37-7 after an 11-yard touchdown pass from Mariota to Darren Carrington, which capped a four-play, 68-yard drive that took 1:24.
After a Scroggins interception, Oregon put another touchdown on the board after Mariota's third rushing touchdown of the night, giving the Ducks a 44-7 lead with 4:54 left in the third quarter.
Running back Kenny Bassett added another touchdown for Oregon with 4:12 left in the fourth quarter after a 19-yard rush to make the score 51-7.
As time expired, quarterback Jerrard Randall scampered for 25 yards on his way to his first touchdown of the year, making the final score 51-13 Oregon.
