Women's Hoops Falls at No. 13 Stanford on Friday

Box Score

STANFORD, Calif.--- Sophomore forward Breanna Workman recorded her best performance of the season, as she scored a season and team-high 12 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting from the field, but it wasn't enough as Arizona fell at No. 13 Stanford, 77-47, Friday night at Maples Pavilion.

Workman's 12 points were just two shy of her career high, while her six successful field goals were a season best.

Freshman guard Charise Holloway notched her fifth double-digit scoring game of the season, as she put in 10 points, including knocking down two three balls in 25 minutes off the bench. Senior Alli Gloyd led the rebounding effort for the third straight contest, as she secured five boards, including four on the offensive end.

Despite having an overall height disadvantage, Arizona (7-9, 0-5 Pac-12) matched Stanford (13-4, 5-0 Pac-12) bucket for bucket inside, as both teams scored 34 points in the paint, while the Wildcat reserves also contributed 28 points off the bench. UA has now boasted eight double-figure scorers off the bench this season, while the Wildcats' reserves have accounted for 43 percent of UA's total points over its last four games.

Sophomore Malena Washington came out and connected on her first two field goal attempts of the game to sport Arizona 2-0 and 4-2 leads to set the tone early.

Stanford then started to find its rhythm from beyond the arc, as it manage to shoot 47.4 percent from three-point land, improving upon its league-leading .397 three-point percentage.

However, the Wildcats showed great energy and trailed the Cardinal just 22-14 with 8:32 remaining in the first half, after Candice Warthen broke down the defense and converted at the rim.

Unfortunately Arizona couldn't sustain the positive momentum, as Stanford went on to secure the victory.

The Wildcats will conclude their three-game road swing at California, Sunday at 2 pm MST. The game can be seen on the Pac-12 Networks and be heard locally on KTUC 1400 AM.
