TUCSON – One of Arizona softball's two games that were canceled on Saturday due to field conditions will be made up, head coach Mike Candrea announced on Monday.
Arizona will host Eastern Arizona in a 10-inning contest on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. at Hillenbrand Stadium.
Hillenbrand was scheduled to be the site of a round robin last Saturday featuring Arizona, Eastern Arizona and Glendale, but the playing surface was deemed unplayable after thunderstorms dampened Tucson Friday and Saturday.
The makeup affair is the first of six dates that Hillenbrand will host fall competition. All games will be free admission and first-come, first-served seating. Parking for this game will be $5 in Cherry Garage.
This will be fans' first chance to see seven freshmen Wildcats (Hillary Edior, Joelle Krist, Taylor McQuillin, Merrilee Miller, Alyssa Palomino, Monica Pasillas and Tamara Statman) in an Arizona uniform in addition to 12 returners from the 2015 squad that went 41-20 and earned a berth to its 10th NCAA Super Regional in the last 11 years.
Up Next: Following Thursday's contest, next of Arizona's fall schedule is UA's annual Alumni Game at 1 p.m. on Oct. 25.
