No. 14 Arizona Sweeps Doubleheader Over Iowa State, Wins Series

AMES, Iowa – No. 14 Arizona won both games of the doubleheader at Iowa State to win the series on Sunday. The Wildcats improved to 29-8 (11-3 Big 12) with the pair of wins.
 
Game 1 | No. 14 Arizona 10, Iowa State 7
Arizona won the first game of the doubleheader, 10-7, over Iowa State. The Cats plated 10 runs on 12 hits and hit four home runs in the win. Kez Lucas and Sydney Stewart both drove in three RBI for Arizona.
 
The Wildcats came out hot and plated four runs in the first inning. Stewart brought in the first run with a sacrifice fly. Lucas hit her fifth home run of the season – a three-run shot to center field – to give Arizona a 4-0 lead.
 
Iowa State cut into Arizona's lead in the bottom of the first with a pair of runs on a two-run home run.
 
Arizona added two runs in the second inning to extend the Cats' lead to 6-2. Sereniti Trice tripled to bring in the first run and Tayler Biehl hit a sac fly to score Trice.
 
The Cats extended their lead to 8-2 in the top of the third. Tele Jennings hit her first home run as a Wildcat to score the first run of the inning for Arizona. Jenna Sniffen followed with a solo home run to plate the eighth run of the game for the Cats. In the bottom of the third, Iowa State plated five runs on three home runs to cut the deficit to 8-7.
 
Stewart hit the fourth home run for the Wildcats in the top of the fifth to lead off the inning and extend Arizona's lead to 9-7. In the top of the seventh, Stewart drove in her third run of the game with a double to left center.
 
In the circle, Jenae Berry improved to 3-0 after pitching 4.2 innings in relief and limiting the Cyclones to just two runs. She struck out four batters en route to the win. Jalen Adams started in the circle for Arizona, going 2.1 innings and allowing five runs on seven hits.
 
Game 2 | No. 14 Arizona 8, Iowa State 7
Arizona won the second game of the day, 8-7, in a comeback win to sweep the doubleheader.
 
The Cats plated eight runs on 10 hits and Addison Duke homered and led the Cats with three RBI.
 
Arizona struck in the first inning to open the second game. Stewart had an RBI groundout to bring home Trice for the first run.
 
In the second inning, Duke drove in Arizona's second run of the game with a double down the left line. Iowa State tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly.
 
Iowa State took the lead in the bottom of the third with an RBI single to make it 3-2. The Cyclones used a pair of two-run home runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 7-2 over the Wildcats.
 
Arizona exploded for six runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead over Iowa State. Duke started off with a two-run homer and Tayler Biehl drove in the third run of the inning with an RBI double. Grace Jenkins tied the game with a two-RBI double and Lucas gave the Cats the lead with an RBI single to round out the inning.
 
Adams picked up the win to improve to 16-4 in the circle after entering in the fourth and tossing 3.1 innings in relief. She held Iowa State scoreless on three hits. Rylie Holder started in the circle, went 2.1 innings, and allowed three runs on five hits. Berry pitched 1.1 innings and allowed four runs on three hits.
