Box Score FULLERTON, Calif. — Ryan Anderson posted 27 points and 12 rebounds for No. 11 Arizona (5-1), but it wasn't enough as Providence (6-0) upset the Wildcats 69-65 Friday night in the semifinals of the DirecTV Wooden Legacy. Arizona will take on Boise St. in the third-place game at 2:30 p.m. MST (ESPNU) on Sunday, just 11 days after the Wildcats defeated the Broncos 88-76 at the McKale Center.
Kris Dunn scored Providence's last 10 points, including a go-ahead jumper with 31 seconds left. Ben Bentil scored a career-high 21 points for the Friars and Dunn finished with 19 despite playing in foul trouble most of the game.
Sophomore Dusan Ristic started in place of Kaleb Tarczewski, who suffered an ankle injury in Thursday's victory over Santa Clara. Ristic tallied six points and five rebounds. Gabe York finished with 10 points and five rebounds, while Kadeem Allen and Parker Jackson-Cartwright each added six points.
Both teams made 27 field goals, but Providence made five 3-pointers to Arizona's three. The Friars also converted on 10 of 17 free throws, while the Cats made eight of thier 10 attempts form the charity stripe. Arizona dominated on the glass 43-22, but Providence forced 21 turnovers while only committing 11 of their own.
Arizona tallied a 26-8 advantage in second-chance points and outscored Providence 16-6 in bench points but the Friars' seven-point advantage in points off turnovers proved to be too much.
