Quintero Gets Silver in the Platform at USA Diving Nationals

Indianapolis, Ind. – Arizona's Rafael Quintero landed on the podium in the platform at the USA Diving Winter National Championships, finishing second overall on the last day of competition. Dominic Ricotta also participated in the event, placing 16th in the semifinal.

Friday Recap

In the prelims of the platform, Quintero finished second with a score of 465.10 out of 21 total divers. He was runner-up to Purdue's Steele Johnson (482.85). Ricotta placed 16th in the event, scoring 267.75.

Later in the semifinals, Quintero took second (936.70), while Ricotta scored 540.95, remaining in 16th place.

Sunday Recap

To close out nationals, Quintero competed in the final of the platform on Sunday. Posting a score of 1414.60, he was runner-up again to Johnson (1523.05). Quintero held off Miami's David Dinsmore who took third with 1333.25.

Up next for the Cats, women's swimming and diving will host NAU, New Mexico State and Oregon State at 12:00 p.m. MST at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.
