TUCSON, Ariz. – With four-under par rounds from senior Manon Gidali and junior Lindsey Weaver, No. 8 University of Arizona women's golf holds an eight-stroke lead on the field at the PING/ASU Invitational. Hosted by ASU at Karsten Golf Course, the golfers are playing a par-72, 6,223-yard course in Tempe, Ariz.
No. 8 Arizona surged to the lead, shooting 12-under par in round two on Saturday. UA holds a two-round score of 564 (-12). No. 4 South Carolina sits in second place with a 572 (-4). No. 44 Texas rounds out the top three with a 574 (-2). No. 33 Annie Park of USC and No. 32 Monica Vaughn of Arizona State share the individual lead with scores of 138 (-6).
No. 26 Gidali and No. 46 Weaver paced Arizona in round two. They both finished at four-under par 68 on the day and both hold scores of 140 (-4) in a tie for seventh place.
Sophomore Wanasa Zhou shares 12th place with a two-round score of 141 (-3). She shot a two-under par round of 70 on Saturday to move up two spots. No. 40 freshman Quihuis moved up 10 spots to T19th after round two with her carding of 70 (-2). She holds a score of 143 (-1).
Senior Andrea Vilarasau rounds out the Arizona five in a tie for 74th. She holds a score of 153 (+9) with rounds of 76 and 77. Playing as an individual, senior Kendall Prince sits tied for 37th place with her score of 147 (+3). She's collected daily rounds of 74 and 73.
