In The Bag With Jordan Gumberg

Junior Jordan Gumberg, a transfer from the University of Tennessee, came to the University of Arizona on a mission.

His results have shown it. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native has accumulated a 73.23 stroke average through 13 tournaments as a Wildcat, the second lowest on the team.

Gumberg has finished in the top-20 five times, and the top-10 three times. He is the only Wildcat on the roster with a first-place finish, which happened on April 5th, after three rounds of play at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. At his first Pac-12 Championships, he finished second recording a 276, the third-lowest 72-hole score in school history.

The only Wildcat to score lower in a 72-hole tournament was current PGA Tour member Ricky Barnes, who registered a 275 and 268 during his time in Tucson.

Here is a closer look at Gumberg;

Favorite Club: 7 iron. "In the words of Roy McAvoy from Tin Cup, 'he hooks his four, he slices his five, but he never shanks his seven.'"

The seven iron has been quite the asset this season for Gumberg, who used it to score a hole-in-one in the opening tournament of the season. Gumberg aced the par-3 11th at the Championship Golf Course at University of New Mexico last month.

Favorite Golf Course: Adios Golf Club, Coconut Creek, Florida "Adios Golf Club has been my second home since I was a little kid."

The 6,950-yard course is a premiere golf course in south Florida, and a course Gumberg learned to play on.  After as much time as Gumberg has spent at the Adios Golf Club, the staff members have become like family to him, and has become a place he is proud to call his home.

Most Memorable Shot: Hole-in-one, September 23, 2016. "My dad has never hit a hole-in-one, and for it to be my first ever was something really special to me."
On a windy day in Albuquerque, Gumberg lined up like he would for any on the 11th hole. With his father watching, he approached the 206-yard par-3 with his 7-iron like he would any other, and earned bragging rights as the ball fell right in.

Golf Role Model: Rory Mcllroy. "He's a great player, and is well respected by the sports community."
Mcllroy has accumulated $34,093,996 in earnings while playing professional golf. The Irishman has won 13 tournaments since 2007.

Favorite Golf Memories:
Wining his first collegiate tournament at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. He finished with a score of 68-70-67=205 (-11), recording his career low 54-hole score.
Placing 2nd at the Pac-12 Championships. Gumberg recorded the third lowest 72-hole score in Arizona history (276), behind current PGA Tour member Ricky Barnes.

Goals During This Season:
Winning a tournament as a team
Recording more individual wins
Becoming an All-American
